Clinical Psychology Advanced or Supplemental Externs

Northstar Center is a rapidly growing out-of-network private practice in Loudoun County, Virginia. We are dedicated to delivering high-quality, evidence-based, trauma-informed behavioral health services to children, adolescents, and adults. We provide neurodiversity affirming comprehensive evaluations for children and adults and psychotherapy for those who experience anxiety, mood disorders, depression, and trauma-related conditions such as complex PTSD and dissociation.

Northstar Center is seeking Clinical Psychology Advanced or Supplemental Externs who are passionate about evidence-based trauma work and assessment and are eager to learn and grow in a supportive, professional environment.

 

Position Highlights:
  • Supervised Clinical Experience: Work closely with licensed psychologists providing individual therapy, ADHD evaluations, and DBT-informed interventions.
  • Specialized Training: Gain expertise in mindfulness-based interventions (CBT, DBT, MBCT) and trauma-focused approaches for PTSD, complex PTSD, anxiety, depression, bipolar dx.
  • Professional Development: Participate in case consultations, didactics, and supervision.
  • Collaborative Environment: Join a team dedicated to empowering trauma survivors and fostering a culture of inclusion, anti-racism, neurodivergence, and LGBTQIA+ affirmation.

 

Ideal Candidates Will Have:
  • Interest in and experience with assessment
  • Demonstrated interest in evidence-based interventions including CBT, DBT, MBCT, and exposure therapy to treat trauma-related conditions, anxiety, phobias, depression, impulsive/compulsive behaviors, emotion dysregulation, and interpersonal challenges
  • Effective communication skills, conscientiousness, and openness to feedback
  • Commitment to anti-racism, neurodivergent affirmation, and LGBTQIA+ inclusivity
  • Availability to provide in-person services in Ashburn, Virginia
